James is almost a week old and doing well. We were beginning to worry about him not having a bowel movement. The pediatrician told us yesterday that if he didn't have one by this morning to call. So, I called. They advised us to try using a rectal thermometer or a pediatric supository. I didn't want to even attempt the supository, so we went the thermometer route. It worked. So, we did not have to visit Dr. Harsh today.
James is eating well and beginning to be awake for longer periods. We were actually able to get 4 hours of sleep last night at one time. I couldn't believe it. I woke up once in the middle of the 4 hours, because we hadn't heard from him. He was sound asleep. We are still having to supplement every once in awhile. The pediatrician told us to stop, but he still isn't getting completely satisfied. The nurse this morning said it was okay, because my milk is probably just now starting to come in. As long as he is getting something she said not to worry. If he starts not having wet diapers to call. We have to go back to the doctors by the end of the week to have his jaundice levels checked, so we will talk to the pediatrician more at that time. Until then we are only supplementing when he takes for 10 minutes on each side and then is still hungry.
Well, I am going to attempt to put some pictures with this post. Please bare with me. If they don't make it into this post, I will try again.
