Sick Baby

We have a sick munchkin on our hands.

Last night, I noticed that James had dark green snot coming out of his nose. We sucked it out and gave him a bath. He seemed to calm down after his bath and ate well then went off to sleep. He woke up at 1:00 A.M., which is out of sorts for him. He let us change him, but he wouldn't take but an ounce or two. Then he was back asleep. He slept until 4:30 A.M. Barry got up with him, changed him, and fed him. He went back to sleep without a problem. All night through the monitor we could hear him breathing really nasally. This morning I took him on to daycare and let them know what was going on. I called this afternoon to see how he was doing. He had only had 8 ounces of formula and took like three bites of cereal. He had only slept 1 hour total the whole time he was there. I called the pediatrician, and they told me to bring him in. So, I left Dollywood and went to pick him up.

We visited with Dr. Harsh. He seems to think that James has a cold. We are to watch him to make sure he is eating and not running a fever. If he starts to run a fever we are to take him to the ER or call the doctor. If he starts to not eat, then we are to call. As long as he is having wet diapers he is getting enough according to the doctor. We are to feed him less and more often to help with the breathing while eating. He doesn't appear to be struggling to breath so that is not of concern. The good news is James now weighs 12 pounds 14.5 ounces. He's growing like a weed. We are to call Dr. Harsh on Friday if things haven't improved, and we go back next Wednesday for his 2 month check up.

Right now our little man is resting peacefully in his car seat. He has stirred a few times, but then he goes back to sleep. I hope he is good for daddy tonight, since I have a weight watchers meeting and children's ministry team meeting. We'll see how it goes. Dr. Harsh said to not take him to daycare tomorrow which isn't a problem, because "Aunt" Cathy was already going to watch him. We will keep you posted on how things are going around our neck of the woods. Look for more pictures soon.

Yeah. .. the only downside to any daycare situation is the "germ pool" that they are exposed to. He'll be fine. Dr. Harsh is a very good doctor.

I hope Baby James gets better real soon. You realize, I hope, that he isn't just "James" at our house. No -- it's BABY James!
