So much has happened since our last post. James has been to see the pediatrician 3 times...yes I said three times. We started off with a cold that seems to be still hanging around after 2 weeks. Now, he has a really bad cough. They are treating him for croupe, but say he doesn't necessarily have croupe. They say his cough sounds like croupe, but he doesn't cough all that much at night...mostly during the day. So, he is on a steroid for 10 days. I hope it helps.
We have taken him completely off of his zantac. We switched his formula to Enfamil Lipil AR. It is specially formulated for babies with frequent spit up. It has made a tremendous difference. He only spits up little bits and not on a regular basis.
We have started real foods. He really liked sweet potatoes and chowed them down like nobody's business. I tried to give him carrots yesterday to no avail. He had a reaction to the carrots. Within one hour he had a small but growing rash on his cheeks and was screaming like nobody's business. The only way to console him was to rock in the recliner and if you tried to put him down when he fell asleep he would wake up screaming. I was extremely happy to see Barry return home from his hunting trip after enduring this for three hours straight. So, we will wait a week and try it again. He is still pretty miserable, since we think the carrots and their reaction have caused constipation in our poor little bambino.
We are about to make our first 8 hour car ride to Pennsylvania for Thanksgiving. We are also anticipating James enjoying his first experience with snow. Grandma is prepared to make a snowman with James when we arrive. Hopefully, there will still be snow on the ground. We are excited for Barry's family to meet the new addition and get to spend time with him. We are also looking forward to visiting with friends while up in Western PA. I will be sure to post plenty of pictures when we return. Until then we hope everyone enjoys a wonderful Thanksgiving and we'll see you in December.
